Tulips (2)
Another photo of tulips, this time from Central Park.
People, you have to know: Central Park is a very popular spot with tourists, therefore the City of New York and the Parks Department spend millions every year on landscaping and flowers.
You have to appriciate it, and , of course, take advantage of it. Instead of going to the mall on Sunday, go to the park with your kids!

Otterness, Covered Wagon
A Sculpture by the world famous Tom Otterness, called Covered Wagon.
Wikipedia: His style is very cartoonish and cheerful, and the forms of his sculptures often consist of many blobs and pipes, giving them a humorous look. The main theme of his work seems to be the struggle of the little man against the Capitalist machine in a difficult and strange city.
Here on display in Dumbo, Brooklyn - Right where the Manhattan Bridge and the BQE intersect.
I would like to thank Jonathan Butler of Brownstoner for helping me with this post.

Water, Israel
In honor of a good man

Here is Yishai Lapidot:
He made it big (Oif Simches, Kinderlach), becoming an Israeli superstar. He reaching beyond his Chasidic, Religious base, to be loved and admired by the general non-religious, and even anti-religious crowd with mega-hits like Aleh Katan and Shalala.
Now he is utilising his energy and stardom to reach out to his audiences and promote Religion and Jewish Values, singing songs of Moshiach, Love of God, and Jewish Faith - very much the way Shlomo Carlebach did.
Here is a video clip of his recent performance at a sold-out jam-packed show in Israel, with a mixed crowd of youngsters. See for Yourself.
Its nice when big people use their power and influence for good stuff. You don't have to be a Rabbi to do God's work

Farewell Daily Yid
It is with sadness that I deleted the link to the Daily Yid after it was closed.
While I disagreed openly and strongly with many of the topics he discussed and many of the things he said, the Yid was good to us from day one, writing about us and promoting us at every opportunity - and for that I am very grateful.
There is always another day, another page, another chance.

Wig Burning
In 2004, at about this time of year, there were rumors that the human-hair wigs commonly worn by Ultra-Orthodox Jewish Women are not Kosher, because the hair is coming from Indian houses of Idolatry.
Almost immediately bonfires were started here-and-there in many religious neighborhoods, and thousands of Wigs ('Shaitels') worth between $500 and $3000 (yes sir), were burned voluntarily by Women and their husbands.
All this was sacrificed in a show of loyalty and devotion rarely seen in modern times.
